Playoffs Preview

Mar 10, 2016

The El Paso Rhinos’ Road to the Thorne Cup starts at home this weekend, as they’ll play the first round of the post-season on home ice. On March 11, 12, and 13 (if necessary), the Horned Warriors will take on the Tulsa Oilers in a best two of three series.

Our Rhinos finished the regular season just ahead of the Oilers in the Mid-West Division of the Western States Hockey League.

The Rhinos and the Oilers are no strangers to close, exciting games, as the teams met up six times this season , the Rhinos swept the Oilers 3-0 during a homestand in Decemeber. In February, the Rhinos took two of three from the Oilers at home.

In addition to the hot action on the ice, for Saturday’s game fans are encouraged to bring a teddy bear for the Rhino’s 8th Annual ‘Teddy Bear Toss.’

The annual Teddy Bear Toss will be held in memory Joni Arnett who was tragically killed in 2007. Joni was involved in many charities throughout her young life and giving, especially where children were involved, was very important to her.

On Saturday, fans will  throw their teddy bears after the Rhinos’ first goal in the first round of playoffs. The stuffed animals will be donated to the El Paso Police and Fire Departments who will use them to comfort children during unfortunate events.

Playoff ticket packages are available by calling 915-479-7825. Fans can also renew your season tickets now and receive a special deal on playoff tickets.
