Oct 2, 2022

Friday: El Paso Rhinos 4 @ Lone Star Brahmas 5 – The Lone Star Brahmas played host this week to the El Paso Rhinos as both teams take to the rink for the start of a new series. Brahmas take the initiative this game as Mason Mara snatches the first goal of the night at 5:48 into the period and again at 19:54 for his second. The first period finished with a flurry of fists at the buzzer with the Rhinos looking for revenge at a 2-0 deficit. After a short intermission both teams returned to the ice ready to continue the match. Luke Morris would put the Rhinos on the board with an early goal 1:46 followed a few minutes later by Tristan Kimmen to tie the game at the four-minute mark. The Brahmas’ Dhillon Wilde temporarily broke the tie with one goal this period, only to be matched once more by the Rhinos as Nick Justice would cap the period off with the score sitting at 3-3. Third Period saw the most intense play thus far with both teams pushing for any advantage they could find. Matthew Macdonald would seize the opportunity to score for the Brahmas giving them a temporary lead which the Rhinos answer in kind as Nick Justice ties the score for a second time this game. Less than 30 seconds after the game is tied at 4-4, Ray Murakami would sneak in the final goal of the night, propelling them to victory.
