Aug 23, 2008

Drew Montague
Ht: 5’11
Wt: 180
Shot: L
Birth year: ‘89
Forward
Hometown: Portage, MI
Last Team Played for: Team NXI AAA Midget
Drew comes to El Paso through the Rhinos/Topeka Roadrunners affiliation.
“It was between El Paso and the Minnesota Icehawks.
El Paso had more community involvement which was a good fit for me, and on my visit there, I talked to some of the vets, and they all said they had their best years of hockey there, and it just feels like a fun place to play”.
“Drew has good speed and size, and he competes, he shoots the puck very well. Look for him to contribute on the power play.”
-Trevor Converse Rhinos Director of Scouting and Player Personnel
Self characterized as a playmaker and someone that “likes to make the first hit on the forecheck.”
The Rhinos are expecting to use Drew’s speed and shot as another offensive weapon this season.
“I’d like to be a key guy on PP and hopefully put up 70 points, those are my goals, and of course to get a D-1 scholarship.”
Eben Crandall
5’11
190
Shot: L
Birth year: ‘90
Defenseman
Hometown: Jackson, MI
Last team played for: Hampton Roads Whalers
Eben is an offensive defenseman, who loves the power play.
“Power play is my favorite thing, and making the stretch pass, I love the big play.”
Last year Eben led the league in points for all defensemen.
“I’d like to end up +30 that’s a goal I’m shooting for, and to lead the PP and PK.”
A lofty goal but one that is possible for this new Rhino.
“Eben’s an offensive d-man who passes the puck hard, can create shooting lanes and snaps the puck off quickly. Eben also enjoys the physical part of the game.”
-Trevor Converse Rhinos Director of Scouting and Player Personnel
“During the camp I came to in June I thought the team looked really solid, and had a lot of returners from an already good team, and I really liked how Coach Herman runs practice. It was tough, but really well organized, he didn’t bag skate us, we skated a lot, but all within the practice not just for the sake of skating us.”
“I also really liked the fan base, they were tailgating for camp, Trevor promised me it be fun.”
Eben will be a key component as the Rhinos reload their defensive corps.
