The hockey playoffs are underway and the El Paso Rhinos are on a mission to capture another Thorne Cup title.

The two-time Thorne Cup-winning Rhinos, who earned a first-round bye, will take on the Springfield Express in a best-of-three game series in the Thorne Cup Mid-West Division semifinals at the El Paso County Coliseum Events Center at 4100 East Paisano.

The games are set for 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 24-25, and, if necessary, 4:30 p.m. Sunday, March 26.

The No. 1-seeded Rhinos, who finished the regular season with a stellar 38-12 record and atop the Western States Hockey League Mid-Western Division, will rely on the incredible play of standout forwards Chaseton Sare, who this season had 50 goals and a whopping 108 points, and Alex Johanson with 43 goals and 92 points.

Forward Gabe Lubwele, with 36 goals and 78 points, will be the force behind the Express, who knocked out the Tulsa Jr. Oilers in two games this past weekend to reach the semifinals.
