Pestuka Returns

Aug 23, 2014

Jiri\’s hockey philosophy is basic: “I prefer a hard and fast game and I like to score goals.” That mentality, however clear-cut, earned him 12 goals in 12 games just after his acquisition in February. He also posted 8 assists in the regular season before tallying 4 points in the playoffs. At the National Tournament, Pestuka became the team’s leading scorer with five goals and four assists in only five games.

As one of the older members of the 2014-2015 roster, the forward simply “want[s] to be a great benefit for the team.” He also iterates the importance of comradery. “For the good of the team, we need to be as great a bunch of guys on the ice and in the locker room as we are outside the arena.”

An all-around athlete, Jiri varied his off ice training with tennis drills and other sports in addition to running and lifting this summer. Knowing that his summer vacation is nearing its end, Pestuka is already completely committed to this season’s rigor. “I want to fully focus on hockey and maybe when I have free time, relax by the pool.”
