Mar 28, 2017

The El Paso Rhinos have earned their way into the division finals in the Thorne Cup playoffs and are set to take on Wichita.

The two-time Thorne Cup-winning Rhinos will now face the Thunder in a best-of-three game series in the Thorne Cup Mid-West Division Championship of the Western States Hockey League at the El Paso County Coliseum Events Center.

The games are set for 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 31-April 1, and, if necessary, 4:30 p.m. Sunday, April 2.

The No. 1-seeded Rhinos will be guided by forwards Evan Camba and Arturas Lakaitis, both with strong performances in El Paso’s comeback series win over the Springfield Express this past weekend.

The third-seeded Thunder will rely on Oskar Gullstrom, left wing, and Peter Cicmanec, forward, the league’s leading scorers. Wichita knocked out the Oklahoma City Blazers to reach the division final.

The Thorne Cup Finals, set for April 12-16 at the Ice Sheet arena in Ogden, Utah, will feature the final six teams remaining in the playoffs in a round-robin-style finals format.

Tickets are $5 for general admission, $7 for Black Section, $10 for Grey Section, $15 for Orange Section, $25 for Glass Section, $30 for Balcony and free for military with ID.

Tickets are available at the El Paso County Coliseum Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 800-745-3000, online and at the Coliseum Events Center door.
