Rhinos 7, Bison 1

Jan 9, 2010

Rhinos forward Navarone Copley\’s two goals and one assist meshed nicely with teammate Nick Gualano\’s one goal and two assists, as El Paso downed the Boulder Bison, 7-1, to start 2010 on a positive note.

The team\’s first losing streak of the season ended just as quickly as it began, as the Rhinos shook off the Holiday rust against the only team from the Mid-West Division to beat them this season.

Copley opened the scoring at 10:32 of the first period, followed by another on the power play at 2:31 of the third.

Gualano, who leads all-WSHL scorers with 38 goals, wrapped the scoring at 11:42 of the third.

Andrew Duff, the league leader in goals-against average with a mark of 1.46, was solid between the pipes, stopping 23 of 24 Bison shots and helping El Paso to a 33-5-0 mark. The Rhinos\’ 66 points tops Boulder by
24 in the division.
