Rhinos at Snipers Preview

Feb 19, 2016

The El Paso Rhinos are taking on the Dallas Snipers once again this weekend which should make for a very interesting series. The last time these two teams met, the Snipers were able to win the opening game at the Hospitals of Providence Events Center, but eventually lost the series 2-1.

This matchup will take place in Dallas at the Dr. Pepper Star Center. The Rhinos haven’t performed well on the road throughout the season, but this matchup may give them an advantage based purely off of their opposing team’s record. The Snipers are on a seven-game losing streak, and are looking to get their first win since January 23rd. That may be hard to do against a surging Rhinos’ squad that won their last game by an eleven goal margin.

Although the Rhinos did start off the season a bit slow, lately they have managed to remain on course and maintain a winning record (22-19) as the season progresses. The Rhinos have scored 168 goals this season, and have allowed 146 which puts them just right above average.

The two players to watch out for in this series include Rhinos’ forward Connor Beaudet, who has 29 goals and 21 assists on the season, and Snipers’ forward Michael Tugo. Tugo is the lone bright spot on the Snipers’ squad, and his 26 goals to go with 29 assists are proof. This game should be expected to be a high-scoring shootout with both teams having above average offenses, but the Rhinos’ defense is formidable enough to help sway the series toward El Paso.
