Rhinos & IceRays Split Series

Thursday: El Paso 6 @ Corpus Christi 2 – Corpus Christi plays host to the El Paso Rhinos Friday night in the first of a two-game series. Rhinos take control of the early game with two goals in the first. Bo Cosman brings the Rhinos their first score of the night at the 5:02 mark with Hayden Cox taking another 16 minutes into the period. Leading 2-0 at the start of the second period, the Rhinos continue their dominance over the Ice Rays as Johnathan horn scores within the first minute. Alexander Babich rounds out the period with yet another goal with less than 2 minutes left.  With the final period upon us Evan Miles once more increases the Rhinos’ lead to 5-0 before the IceRays finally put themselves on the board as Oliver Stumpel scores. Following Stumpel’s lead, Colby Seitz would award the IceRays their second, and unfortunately final goal of the night. As the game winds down, Jonathan Horn takes one last goal for himself and the team, finalizing the score at a 6-2 Rhino victory.

Friday: El Paso 2 @ Corpus Christi 4- IceRays host Rhinos once more as they seek to take revenge for last night’s game. Hayden Cox takes the ice by storm as he scores only 47 seconds into the first period. This early game momentum would carry throughout the period with Evan Miles capitalizing to take the Rhinos second goal of the game. The first period would end with a 2-0 Rhino lead. Corpus Christi refused to take the first period sitting down as Oliver Stumpel gives the Rhinos a taste of their own medicine by scoring a goal 39 seconds into the second period. With newfound determination, the IceRays would begin their comeback. Michael Casey Jr would follow a few minutes later to tie the game at 2-2, but this stalemate was not to last as Colby Seitz shoots the IceRays into the lead with a goal halfway through the period. IceRays head into the third period with a 3-2 lead over the Rhinos. With one final period left to play the Rhinos fought to come back onto even terms with the IceRays taking several penalties on the way. Corpus Christi would ultimately score one last time to double their score over the Rhinos, ending the game with a 4-2 victory.
