Rhinos Shut Down Diablos 10 – 0

Sep 26, 2009

After starting the season with a 5-2 loss at Boulder, CO, last weekend, Rhinos head coach Cory Herman was concerned about El Paso’s lack of offense.

The Rhinos answered their coach’s concern with two-point and six-point wins over the first-year Bison program, and Friday ripped apart an old rival with a 10-0 win over San Antonio.

Call the coach’s concern quelled.

The Diablos had no answer for El Paso goalie Andrew Duff, who notches his first shutout parrying away all 23 Diablos shots. After losing his opener, the Brighton, MI, native has also gotten progressively better.
Letting in five goals in the opener, Duff has allowed three goals, two goals and no goals in the Rhinos’ first four games.

Returning forward Nick Gualano and new addition Donald Geary each scored twice for the Rhinos, who also got goals from Navarone Copley, David Fegler, Anthony Knuth, Andrew Alpstag, Ben Henne and Trevor Erickson.

El Paso will play twice more in San Antonio, Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. Rhinos fans can watch the game for a fee at http://www.diabloshockey.net <http://www.diabloshockey.net/>.

El Paso will open their home schedule at the Sierra Providence Events Center Friday, Oct. 23^rd , with a weekend series against the Bison. For season tickets and information, contact the Rhinos front office at 915.479.PUCK (7825) or go to www.elpasorhinos.com <http://www.elpasorhinos.com/>.
