How did you come about playing in El Paso?
Erickson and Bottcher: We both spoke to Trevor Converse at the Topeka Somerset Camp.
Knuth: I spoke to Trevor and Mike and they were gonna go to El Paso. I’d played with those guys for quite a few years so I thought it’d be fun
Had you heard of the Rhinos program before?
Knuth: I had read a couple of things and I knew Jeff Schmudlach, Bill Krueger, and Zach Kohn
What sold you on the program?
Bottcher: we (he & Erickson) came to camp and liked it out here, the fans are really passionate and we had a good time
Erickson: The people were really genuine, and passionate fans for sure, we hung out with some of the vets from last year’s team and had a really good time.
Knuth: I wanted to try something new, I’ve always wanted to go to Texas, and I was interested in experiencing someplace new
Where did you play last year?
Knuth: Wisconsin Mustangs (MNJHL)
Erickson: High School in Sparta Wisconsin, and Team Wisconsin AAA
Bottcher: Team Wisconsin AAA
Do you have any goals as a player for the upcoming season?
Knuth: To play well and get a D-III scholarship
Bottcher: To continue to develop as a player, and enjoy the whole Junior experience
Erickson: I want to contribute and get better, and hopefully go on and become a good college player.
What was your impression of Coach Herman?
Erickson: He seems like a nice guy, he did come down and gave us an earful at camp mostly to the veterans about not trying hard enough so it seems like he’ll be pretty tough.
Rhino’s Director of Player Personnel Trevor Converse’s comments on:
Erickson – “Energy & Speed, taking a night off is not in his vocabulary, along with his work ethic Trevor has good offensive abilities, plays hard without the puck. He will lead by example.”
Bottcher – “Steady, Strong, Intelligent defensemen, Mike’s one of those d men every team covets. He is reliable in all zones and can play in all situations.”
Knuth – “Anthony was recommended to us from a trusted source within the Rhino organization.
We expect Anthony to come in as a skilled forward who can make plays and contribute on the power play.”
