Friday: Shreveport Mudbugs 4 @ El Paso Rhinos 6 – Mudbugs are in the Sun City this weekend as the Rhinos play host for two games over the course of this weekend! Mudbugs are on the board first tonight as Ryan Baert draws first blood at just past two minutes into the first period. Mudbugs would lead for the majority of the period until the Rhinos score two back-to-back goals courtesy of Ben Norris & Duke Gentzler. We’d move into the second period with a 2-1 Rhino lead. AJ Reed makes it 3-1 followed by Rasmus Nousiainen to make it 4-1 before Shreveport can mount a counterattack. Just a few minutes later the Mudbugs bring it back as Lucas Deeb scores their second goal of the night. Shreveport takes one more this period to make it 4-3, still in the Rhinos favor. The third period would see two more goals from the Rhinos as Beckett Hinschliff and Paavo Hiltunen increase the lead yet again to 6-3. One last-minute game by Lucas Deeb gives the Mudbugs their final point of the night, but the Rhinos would come out on top with a 6-4 victory.
Saturday: Shreveport Mudbugs 3 @ El Paso Rhinos 2 – Back on the Ice for Game #2 the Rhinos & Mudbugs square off once more! Gentzler takes an opportunity early in the first period to give Rhinos the early lead but the Mudbugs catch up and tie it a 1-1 before the period is out. Gentzler would once again take a point for the Rhinos at the midway point in the second period, and in a repeat of the first the Mudbugs would tie it up again as Brent Litchard makes it 2-2 to wrap up the second. Unfortunately for the Rhinos Litchard takes one more goal and the Mudbugs would run away with a 3-2 victory early in the third.
