Rhinos Sweep Thunder, 10-1

 (EL PASO, TX) — Lukas Znosko, Sebastian Borg and Vojtech Zemlicka all scored twice and the El Paso Rhinos capped their first home series by equaling the goal output of their first two games in a 10-1 win, sweeping the Wichita Junior Thunder Sunday evening.

The Rhinos beat Wichita, 5-0, Friday and 5-2 on Saturday.

Znosko opened the scoring just 1:41 into the game and followed it with El Paso’s second short-handed goal of the season at 11:19 of the first. Martin Hanl and Patrick Stancl also scored in the first.

The Junior Thunder answered to start the second frame as Patrik Janak beat Rhinos goalie Ryan Buttazoni at 1:45. But Zemlicka answered with with the first of two El Paso power play goals exactly 30 seconds later and Borg notched his first 1:22 after that.

El Paso had another four-goal period in the final 20 minutes as Borg tallied at 3:13, Zemlicka earned his brace just 21 seconds later and Jiri Pestuka scored at 5:03.

Robert Horak rifled a top shelf power play strike at 16:52 to wrap the scoring.

El Paso improves to 8-1-0-0 and the Rhinos’ 16 points paces the Midwest Division of the Western States Hockey League. Wichita drops to 4-11-0-0.

The Rhinos will hit the road to play a three-game series against the Dallas Snipers Nov. 14-16 before returning home the weekend before Thanksgiving, Nov. 21-23, to play the division’s second place team, the Oklahoma City Blazers.
