Rhinos swept by Warriors 4-1 in Game 2

Apr 9, 2023

Friday, El Paso Rhinos 0 @ Oklahoma Warriors 4 – Rhinos depart from Rhino country this weekend as they head off to face the Oklahoma Warriors on their home turf. Joey Delgreco starts off the warriors tonight with a goal just over four minutes into the first period. This 1-0 lead would continue into the second period as the Rhinos were unsuccessful in sneaking a puck past Warriors’ goaltender Daniel Duris. Late into the period Mikko Liukkonen and Kaden Nelson both take two more goals for the Warriors, increasing their lead to 4-0 before the night is out. Rhinos swap out goaltenders in the final period of the game as C.J. Kier takes to the ice in the final stretch to prevent any further Warriors scoring, but Oklahoma would still take the night 4-0 over the Rhinos.

Saturday, El Paso Rhinos 1 @ Oklahoma Warriors 4 – Returning to the ice for Game #2 the Rhinos & Warriors are on the ice yet again. Both defenses hold firm in the first period with neither team scoring the entire 20 minutes. Moving on to the second period E.J. Janda gives the Rhinos their first goal of the night at 13:23 into the second period. This would be the only goal of the period to give the Rhinos a 1-0 lead headed into the third. Moving into the late game the Warriors pulled all stops and started gaining momentum as Malte Hasselgren puts them on the board just 25 seconds into the third period. This temporary tie doesn’t last long as Rylan Brady swipes the lead away from the Rhinos to give the warriors their second goal of the night. To round out the game the Warriors would go on to score twice more as William Lawyson-Body and Brady once more take goals to set Oklahoma ahead of El Paso 4-0 at the buzzer.
