Rhinos & IceRays split series

Friday: Corpus Christi IceRays 4 @ El Paso Rhinos 1 – We’re back in Rhino Country this weekend as the Corpus Christi Ice Rays pay a visit to El Paso. We start off the night with the IcecRays taking the lead at 4:50 as Nils Forselius gets in a shot past Rhino defense followed just a few minutes later by Blake Lewis with a second. At the end of the first period the IceRays take a 2-0 lead over the Rhinos. Moving on to the second period Logan Neilson gives Corpus Christi their third goal of the night. With no more scoring in the second period we head into the third where Corpus Christi leads 3-0 over El Paso. AJ Reed puts the Rhinos on the board at the 5:19 mark in the third period, but this would be the Rhinos only tally of the night. with just over a minute to go in regulation time Anthony Cafarelli sinks one more puck in the net to end the night at a 4-1 lead for the IceRays.

Saturday: Corpus Christi 1 @ El Paso Rhinos 3 – Both teams take to the ice for a second and final time tonight to wrap up this 2-game series. We start off the night with Frank Tafelski giving us our first goal in just under four minutes to give the Rhinos a 1-0 lead. IceRays wouldn’t sit idly by as Anthony Cafarelli ties up the game only a couple minutes after. The game would sit at 1-1 for some time until Tafelski scores his second goal of the night to wrap up the first period. Headed into the second period the Rhinos would hold on to a 2-1 lead. Moving on to the second period we see only one goal from David Tolan to further increase the Rhinos’ lead now to 3-1. That would be the last score of the night and the third period would be nothing but rising tensions, penalties, and Rhino defense at work. Both th
