El Paso, TX – They may not be perfect in 2012, but the El Paso Rhinos are damn close to it. On Saturday they improved their second half record to a whopping 15-2 since the start of the New Year. And while the other Conference leaders may be undefeated since the beginning of January, El Paso has had more wins than the Fresno Monsters and Idaho Junior Steelheads have had games.

The Rhinos hosted the Texas Brahmas for game five of their six game series and it seemed as though they just continued to open things up. Things didn’t start so hot for the orange and black though as goalie Vincent DiCarlo allowed the opening goal by Josh Gray just two minutes plus into the game; it would be the only shot he would let by him.

From that point on it was all Rhinos, all the time. Brenden Gust tied it up off of a feed from David Nelson early into the second period and Trey Hughes followed it up to get yet another game winning goal. El Paso would tack on two more by Gunnar Bjorklund and Michael Rivera before the game came to its 4-1 conclusion.

Texas has one more chance to leave an impression on the Rhinos. This team has a lot to play for as they look to secure their third place position going into playoffs, show some pride in a rivalry game, and prove all of the bulletin board material wrong. This Lone Star State showdown should be nothing short of furious on Sunday.
