Vay to Join Finland’s Hermes Kokkolan

Aug 1, 2014

Netminder Adam Vay will join the professional ranks as he signs with Hermes Kokkolan, a Finnish Division II team.

A looming presence in front of the net, Vay stands at 6’6. His size is accompanied by quickness and flexibility, allowing him to maintain control in the crease. In his only year with the Rhinos, Adam’s impressive league-leading stats included five shutouts and a save percentage of .936.  He only totaled two losses throughout the season, one being a five-round shootout loss at the National Tournament. In the post-season, the Hungary native was only second to his teammate, Bryce Fink.

A well-established team in Kokkolan, Finland, Hermes has been in existence since 1953. Last season, the team was just shy of a post-season berth with a record of 17-21-6. Hermes will look to improve their standing when they begin their season in late September against last season’s first place team, Roki.
