Two-time Thorne Cup champion and Rhino alum Max Kamper will lace up his skates for the Iowa State Cyclones next season!
Kamper, an Aliso Viejo, California native, earned 56 points in 58 games during the 2017-18 season. After his first year culminated in a championship, he helped lead the team to back-to-back championships this season. The veteran forward posted 31 goals and 24 assists for a total of 55 points. Most impressively, he netted six goals in nine playoffs games, and five of those goals came in Ogden during the Thorne Cup Finals. He also scored the game winning goal in overtime against the Mustangs to give the Rhinos a seat in the Thorne Cup Semi-Finals. He then went on to notch the empty net goal in the championship game, securing the Rhinos’ second championship in two seasons.
After two seasons in El Paso, Kamper will head to Iowa State, an ACHA Division I program that consistently sits atop of the league. Last season, the Cyclones advanced to the ACHA DI championship game where they fell to Minot State, 3-1.
In the past, ISU has scheduled games against the University of Central Oklahoma, so it is likely that Kamper will play against former teammates and newly signed Bronchos, JC Dubecky, Ty Erramouspe and Adam Stalzer.
